  2. 1. Newtons 2nd law: Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. The greater the mass (of the object being accelerated) the greater the amount of force needed (to accelerate the object.
    2. And example of this is that someone would have to put more force in to move a heavy object like car than they would to move a basketball.

    An example of this is when large cars are outfitted with a much more powerful engine yet accelerate only as fast as a much small car with a less powerful engine.

    Two people are running at full speed and one person weighs 100 pounds and the other weights 200 pounds. If they have to stop suddenly, the lighter person will come to a complete stop much faster.
